We hope everyone in our ICF Calgary community and their loved ones have been keeping safe during this uncertain and difficult time. Although we are experiencing our own unique set of challenges, we are certain that your coaching is making a difference.

As ICF Members, one thing that unites us is our shared, passionate belief in coaching’s power to make a positive impact. International Coaching Week (ICW) 2020 is our opportunity to celebrate that power and share it with our friends, families and neighbours.

On May 6, 2020, ICF Global is launching their inaugural International Coaching Day celebration. During this 24-hour period, they are challenging every ICF coach, worldwide, to donate an hour of virtual coaching to someone in their community.

ICF Calgary will be supporting and encouraging this ICF Global initiative – with a twist!

We are extending the timeframe to the entire week. That’s right, we are challenging each coach to donate at least 1, or more (up to 5), hours of pro-bono coaching to an organization or individuals within the greater Calgary community.

This is a time when all of us can raise awareness of what coaching is and how it can help. Here’s how you can participate.

  1. Go to our Facebook Page: and Like the page
  2. Starting May 4 through to May 8, look for our ICW2020 post each day. Like and Share to your page for a chance to win a gift card for Amazon.
  3. To record your pro-bono coaching hours, let us know how many hours you coached by commenting on our posts including the hashtag #ICW2020YYC. Include the hashtag #experiencecoaching to be included in the ICF Global campaign. Feel free to share the impact that donating coaching is having on you or how it is helping your community. (Please keep in mind the code of ethics on confidentiality when posting). Here are some examples:

“I completed one hour of pro-bono coaching today! I feel great! #ICW2020YYC #experiencecoaching

“Coached 2 hours today for a non-profit focusing on mental health. #ICW2020YYC #experiencecoaching

“I’m loving this idea. I shared the coaching experience with a family member and they now understand what I do!” #ICW2020YYC #experiencecoaching

Once the contest closes on May 10, we will enter your name into a draw for every hour you donated. (Maximum of 5 entries).

On May 15. We will announce the winners of a copy of The Advice Trap by Michael Bungay Stanier and a $50 gift certificate for Indigo on our FB page! If you shared our posts to your page, your name will be automatically entered into a draw for an additional $10 gift certificate to Amazon.

We are looking forward to ICW2020 and hope you will participate and be part of this exciting initiative.

  1. How do I log coaching sessions below 1 hour (ex 30 or 45 mins)? If you coach 30 min or 45 min, keep track of your time to total and round to the nearest hour. For example, 3 sessions of 30 min and 1 session of 45, total 2 hours and 15 minutes which would count for 2 entries.

  1. What if I am already doing pro-bono coaching today, will those hours qualify? Ideally the hours that qualify for the contest are done with people that are not currently your clients or people who have already experiences coaching with you.
