I still remember walking into the ICF Calgary Chapter AGM in 2025, a new coach and Board Director, meeting so many local coaches for the first time. I was immediately met by warm smiles and a sense of welcome. I quickly realized this isn’t just an organization; it’s a community.
Fast forward a year, and I’m stepping forward as your Chapter President. When I was asked to take on this role, I didn’t say yes right away. It’s an important position, and I care about our Chapter. I wanted to make sure I could serve the role and our members well.
What I bring is 25 years of experience leading values-driven initiatives in Canada’s health system, 25 years of volunteer board and council experience, and a commitment to processes that let good work happen consistently. I’m a relatively new coach – I graduated from Royal Roads in April 2025 and have just completed my ACC hours. I am starting the Masters of Executive and Organizational Coaching at RRU this month.
I’m mindful that this community pre-existed me, and this Board. That’s why in-person gatherings matter so much to me. There’s something that happens when we’re in the same room – reconnecting with colleagues, learning from each other, being reminded that we’re part of a legacy that is larger than our individual practices. I’ve heard that echoed by our members, and our Board. This year, while we’ll still be offering virtual events, you can look forward to more opportunities to gather together for formal programs as well as informal community building.
Behind the scenes, our Board is also doing important work to strengthen how we operate, so what you experience as a member is consistent, sustainable, and keeps getting better year over year.
As I’ve been preparing for this role, I’ve been spending time with past presidents and senior coaches, listening and learning. That spirit of listening is shared across our Board: we are here to walk forward with you.
